Valencia

There is a sun, a holy grail, beach, windsurfing, super dog friendly, great public transportation, unbeatable weather, warm Mediterranean swimming, ancient cathedrals,  also  known for its City of Arts and Sciences, with futuristic structures including a planetarium, an oceanarium and an interactive museum. Whats not to like!

Opera House

Had a wonderful time in Valencia. Our condo over looked the Med with a beautiful view, huge pool and a short walk to the beach. Sunrise was spectacular with sea glass treasures to be found on every morning walk. Going to have to start making jewelry and mirrors again.

The Cuidad de Arts and Cultural is stunning and only a 30 minute bus ride from condo. Aquarium, imax, opera house, natural history museum, and when you get bored of that you can hop a bus into the city and see all the old sites.

The gates to the city, Cathedrals, ancient ceramic museum and a beautiful park walk through the city to the Cuidad de Cutural and arts.

Let’s not forget the cathedral with the “Holy Grail”, not another one.....

Went windsurfing and could fell my bones rattle, this is not an old lady sport. I had to do a whole spa day to recover.

Had the biggest paella I have ever seen and delicious !

The beach is known for its “Free La Tetas”. Every morning I did the beach walk and they take that seriously. Kirk never made it, had to do the conference thing.

I was down to my last day in Valencia and I had not yet found stamps or a post office. So I decided to go into town and check out the sites and look for some stamps and Tea towels. It seems in both Italy and Spain stamps are sold at the tobacco shops. Well I found the tea towels and stamps but the post was a little more challenging. I thought I could speak Spanish enough to do little things but looking for a mail drop was not one of them . I asked the waitress after I had a splendid coffee ice cream.

She pointed me in the direction of lots ojos, glasses business, and she said Amarillo, (yellow). So I went that direction and there was a yellow can but it looked a lot like trash.

So I asked a guy next to the can and pointed further down the street. I turned the corner all there was to see was a long wall with a brass bas relief of lion heads. There was a hotel, so what I do when I am really lost I ask the concierge. He took my hand and guided me outside and across the street and pointed to the building right across the street the ones with the bas relief on it.

OK then I could not find an entrance. I went around front and they were picketing , did not want to go in there. So I went around to the side, a lot of yellow cars/trucks parked there. There was a man standing in the entrance to the garage and I asked him and he pointed to the wall just a few feet in front of me. I looked and it was two lion heads with there mouths open, the bas relief I have been walking pass the last 10 minutes.

This could not be what he meant. But sure enough, I looked at him and pointed and he shook his head. Yeo sure enough that was the mail drop.

I had a nice walk around the city and all its monuments, old buildings and fountains, and loads of flowers. Very beautiful city.

We finished the trip with a beach walk and swim in the Med, life could not be better.

This is definitely on the list to return it had the perfect combination of everything including being able to order beer and latte at the same cafe/bar.

                                                                           Adios!

One of my favourite things about Milan and Valencia is they both had bidets, how civilized;)!
